Who is behind this website?

Your webmistress …

… also called “Anke”. Since March, 2003 I have been running the German version of this website – comprising five crummy pages in the very beginning. Around five years later, the English version went online.

I grew up in Lower Saxony in the North of Germany. In 1995 Cupid lured me to Hamburg where I stayed till 2006. During those years I truly have fallen in love with the city. A good reason to dedicate a full “chapter” of this site to the Hanseatic City. In the column »Hamburg I lead you through my favorite city. I introduce to you the nicest places to go and intersting destinations in Hamburg and its surroundings.

In June, 2006 I got an interesting job offer and ended up in Swabia, 700 km (435 mi) away from “home”. After I got over the first “cultural shock” I must admit that life in Southwest Germany isn’t half bad – as long as you remember to do your Kehrwoche.

If not tinkering on my web pages, I like to spend my time off making excursions with my digital camera (as some kind of breeding ground for new web pages as it were ). You can learn more about my tours in my »travelogues.

How this site has come into being …

In summer, 2001 I started dealing closer with HTML to brush up the sales descriptions of my internet auctions. And in the end web design degenerated to a real addiction. The search of a “playground” to have a fling has generated this website. On this occasion many thanks to Thomas and Ulli who gave me advice in choosing the “right” webhoster and in the creation of my site.

HTML was just half the battle to design the sales ads. I also needed pictures to illustrate the offered items. So I got myself my first (digital) camera – a simple snap box that hardly allowed to adjust the shooting settings. Soon I was so keen on snapping, that I wanted to do more than just pressing the shutter release button. I got a Canon Powershot and dared to tackle the secrets of photography by degrees. You find a choice of the results of this hesitant approach in the »picture gallery.

I would be pleased, if you left me a message in the »guestbook to let me know what you think about the site.

Have fun on my website!
